If your car air conditioning is broken, you're likely to be hot and sweaty until you repair it. However, as you save up for the repair, you may want to explore some other ways of cooling your car. Take a look at these ideas: 

1. Open the windows

Opening the windows is the obvious solution if your car air conditioner is broken. Even if it is hot outside, the speed of your vehicle helps the air coming in from the windows to feel at least slightly cool. However, above a certain speed, your car starts to lose efficiency when the windows are open, and the noise can be distracting as well. If you plan to be driving at 64.4 kilometers per hour or faster, you should close the window and exploring another alternative cooling option.

2. Wet Cloth and Fan

In many cases, the fan on your car may still be working even if the air conditioner is not. If that's the case, turn the fan on and hang a wet towel over the vent. The air from the fan will push the cool moisture around your car helping it to cool down.

Once the wet cloth dries, you need to replace it with another one, and that can be hard to do when you are driving. As a result, you may want to save this idea for times when you have a co driver in the car who's willing to handle the towels and the container of water.

3. Battery-Powered Fan

You can buy a range of battery powered fans from small inexpensive fans to large ones made for worksites. If you are travelling by yourself, place a large battery operated fan on the passenger seat and let yourself enjoy the feeling of moving air.

If you don't like the idea of replacing batteries, you can also buy fans that plug into the power adapter or cigarette lighter on your car. So that the fan is easy to use, look for one that has a clip that you can attach to the dashboard.
